Rabat – The National Brigade of Judicial Police said today that it has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding a suicide attempt inside a police headquarters in Casablanca.
Preliminary findings indicate the man, who was already the subject of an ongoing investigation, jumped from the window of an upper-floor office during his interrogation at the police headquarters.
The security source did not reveal the case he was questioned about, with the statement only noting that he was linked to a criminal case.
After he jumped from the window, the man sustained serious injuries, which led him to the hospital in critical condition.
Police opened judicial investigations to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
The investigation also aims to determine all relevant details.
The injured individual is still hospitalized to receive necessary medical care.
World Life Expectancy shared data compiled by the World Health Organization published in 2020, saying suicide deaths in Morocco reached 2,617 or 1.15% of total deaths.
“ The age adjusted Death Rate is 7.29 per 100,000 of population ranks Morocco #110 in the world,” the data shows.
