Agadir – The Moroccan pavilion earned the Award of Excellence for best design and decoration during the 2026 edition of the Outbound Travel Market (OTM) tourism fair held Saturday in Mumbai.
The Moroccan National Tourist Office’s (ONMT) pavilion introduced the diverse and coherent Moroccan cultural heritage with contemporary design. It showcased Moroccan craftsmanship, culture, and national identity, reinforcing the country’s position as Africa’s leading tourism destination.
The three-day event opened Thursday in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to New Delhi, Mohamed Maliki, bringing together more than 2,100 exhibitors from over 60 countries and attracting more than 50,000 industry visitors.
The Moroccan presence was further strengthened by the participation of nine inbound travel agencies, turning the pavilion into an important step for promoting Morocco, building partnerships, and attracting new tourist markets.
Morocco’s participation marked its third consecutive year at OTM, widely considered a major gateway to India’s outbound travel industry. The event brought together thousands of exhibitors and tens of thousands of industry professionals, positioning it as a major platform for destinations seeking access to Indian travelers.
Morocco’s strong presence shows the rapid rise of Indian outbound tourism, which has become a key driver of global travel demand.
Indian travelers spent about $31.7 billion abroad in 2024, reflecting strong growth and reinforcing India’s position as a major global tourism source market.
Morocco’s participation in this event in India aligns with its broader tourism diversification efforts. Through ONMT, the country is focusing on expanding beyond traditional European markets and attracting new demand from growing regions such as South Asia.
Morocco recorded a significant surge in international tourism in 2025. According to official tourism ministry figures, Morocco received approximately 19.8 million visitors in 2025, marking a 14 % increase compared to 2024 and approaching 20 million for the first time.
This performance also translated into record tourism revenues, with receipts reaching MAD 124 billion ( $13.5 billion) by the end of November 2025, an increase of 19 % compared to the previous year.
