Ingredients

To make churros, you will need one cup of water, two tablespoons of sugar, two tablespoons of butter, one cup of all-purpose flour, a quarter teaspoon of salt, and a teaspoon of vanilla (optional). You will also need oil for frying. For coating, mix half a cup of sugar with a teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

Preparation Method

Start by combining water, sugar, butter, and salt in a medium pot over medium heat. Stir the mixture until it reaches a boil. Lower the heat and add the flour all at once, stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon until a cohesive dough forms that pulls away from the sides of the pot. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before adding the optional vanilla.

Next, heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Transfer the dough to a pastry bag fitted with a star nozzle. Squeeze out strips of churros directly into the hot oil, frying until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
